Frequently asked questions

What is the return policy?

We have a 14-day return policy, which means you have 14 days after receiving your item to request a return.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

To start a return, you can contact us at hello@silkroadcoffee.co.uk. Please note that returns will need to be sent to the following address: 14-16 Upper Charnwood Street, Leicester, LE2 0AU.

If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

You can always contact us for any return question at hello@silkroadcoffee.co.uk

Damages and issues
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

Exceptions / non-returnable items
Certain types of items cannot be returned, like perishable goods (such as food, flowers, or plants), custom products (such as special orders or personalised items), and personal care goods (such as beauty products). We also do not accept returns for hazardous materials, flammable liquids, or gases. Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.

Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.

European Union 14 day cooling off period
Notwithstanding the above, if the merchandise is being shipped into the European Union, you have the right to cancel or return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without a justification. As above, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.

If more than 15 business days have passed since we’ve approved your return, please contact us at hello@silkroadcoffee.co.uk

When will I get my order?

1. Shipping Methods:

Our standard shipping methods include next-day delivery through Evri, Yodal and DPD. While we endeavour to provide next-day delivery, please be aware that delivery times may vary based on factors such as location and courier capacity.

2. Processing Time:

Orders are processed promptly upon receipt, and we aim to dispatch them the following business day. Orders placed before 11 am GMT may be dispatched on the same day, with the goal of facilitating next-day delivery.

3. Shipping Timeframes:

We strive to deliver all orders within a week of order placement, excluding international shipments, which may take longer due to customs processing and other factors. Customers can request tracking information for their orders to monitor delivery progress.

4. Holiday Shipping:

During peak holiday seasons, such as Christmas and New Year's, we encourage customers to place orders well in advance to ensure timely delivery. Orders received after specified cutoff dates may experience delays due to increased order volumes and courier limitations.

Where are your products manufactured?

Our products are manufactured in England but the beans are sourced from around the world including Ethiopia and Guatemala as the UK does not have the climate to grow coffee, unfortunately.

What is speciality coffee?

Speciality coffee refers to coffee that has been grown, processed, roasted, and brewed to the highest possible standards, with exceptional attention to quality and traceability at every stage of its journey from farm to cup.

Formally, speciality coffee is defined by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) as any coffee that scores 80 points or above on a 100-point scale when graded by certified coffee tasters (Q graders). This score is based on factors such as aroma, flavour, aftertaste, acidity, body, balance, sweetness, uniformity, and absence of defects.
