Birmingham's Hidden Gems: Perch
Birmingham's Hidden Gems
Perch Café is truly a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Birmingham. Located at 190 Corporation Street, Birmingham B4 6QD, this small brunch spot specialises in artisanal coffee and distinctive pastries. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a warm, rustic atmosphere that immediately drew us in. One of the first things that caught our eye was the array of creative pastries – definitely a must-try.
Ambiance & Décor
Perch’s rustic yet minimalist décor really stands out. While seating is limited and purely indoors, the cosy and welcoming vibe more than makes up for it. The open-plan kitchen is a highlight, allowing you to see your food being made fresh, which adds to the experience.
The staff were friendly and professional, and the food arrived promptly – a big plus since we were quite hungry!
Menu & Variety
The menu offers a good selection of brunch options, catering to a variety of tastes. We were pleased to see gluten-free alternatives available, something not every café offers.
The coffee was well-prepared and served in charming clay-like cups. We’d rate the specialty coffee a solid 7/10. The real star, though, was the raspberry ripple matcha, which was truly outstanding – easily a 10/10.
Food was reasonably priced and very filling, earning a 10/10 from us. The pastries are worth highlighting, especially the apple pie Danish, which was unique with its apple pie filling and custard-like cream topping – an absolute winner.
Overall Experience
Our overall experience at Perch was great, and we would definitely return. However, it’s not ideal for long visits due to the limited seating and lack of Wi-Fi. That said, this helps keep the space calm and uncrowded, which we appreciated.
Overall, we’d rate Perch an 8/10! :)
